This policy explains when and how you can cancel services, what happens to your payment, and how refunds are processed. We aim to be clear and fair so you know exactly where you stand.
The short version: Give us 24 hours notice for session changes, deposits are non-refundable but can transfer, and once training starts, fees are non-refundable.
For Private Lessons, Day Training days, and Group Classes:
You may reschedule your session at no charge. Contact us via email, phone, or the Client Portal to reschedule.
The session fee is forfeited and counts toward your program total. This applies whether you cancel, reschedule late, or simply don't show up.
If you miss a scheduled session without any notice, the full session fee is forfeited. We prepare for each session and block time specifically for you.
We prepare for each session in advance—reviewing your dog's progress, planning exercises, and blocking time that could be offered to other clients. Late cancellations prevent us from filling that slot and waste the preparation work already done.

If you need to cancel before your program starts, your deposit may be applied to a future program within 6 months, subject to availability. Transfer requests must be made in writing to info@newberrydogtraining.com.

Program fees are non-refundable once your dog arrives and training starts.
If training is cut short after your dog arrives, refunds for unused days are handled case-by-case. We consider:
If we determine training cannot safely continue (aggression, undisclosed behavioral history, health issues), we will discuss a fair resolution. If you choose to remove your dog early, no refund is provided for unused days.
Day Training programs run Monday through Friday. Your dog trains during the day and returns home each evening.
Once your program begins, fees are non-refundable. The scheduled days are reserved for your dog and cannot be offered to other clients.
You may reschedule one training day per program with 24+ hours notice. Additional rescheduling requests may be denied.
Days missed due to late cancellation, no-show, or illness count toward your program total and are not refunded or rescheduled (except for the one-time reschedule allowance above).
If you choose to end the program early, remaining days are forfeited. If we need to terminate for safety or compatibility reasons, we'll discuss a fair resolution based on days completed.
Prepaid lesson packages offer a discounted rate in exchange for your commitment to the program.
We may grant extensions in exceptional circumstances—serious illness, family emergency, or extended travel. Contact us to discuss. Extensions are not guaranteed.
Sessions not used by the expiration date are forfeited. We send reminders as expiration approaches, but it's your responsibility to schedule within the valid period.
Group classes run on a fixed schedule with limited spots per session.
Class registration fees are non-refundable once the class series begins. This ensures we have stable attendance for all participants.
If you miss a class with less than 24 hours notice, it counts toward your class total. We cannot offer makeup sessions for group classes as they run on a fixed schedule.
If you cancel before the first class:
When a refund is approved, it will be processed within 5-10 business days. Your bank may take additional time (typically 3-5 business days) to reflect the credit on your statement.
Refunds are issued to the original payment method. We cannot refund to a different card or payment method than was used for the original transaction.
Payment processing fees (typically 2.9% + $0.30 per transaction charged by Stripe) are non-recoverable. When applicable, these fees will be deducted from refund amounts.

We understand that life happens. The following situations will be handled with compassion and common sense:
Hospitalization, serious illness, or injury (yours or your dog's) that prevents participation. Documentation may be requested.
Death in the family, major family emergency, or other extraordinary circumstances. We'll work with you to find a fair solution.
If your dog becomes ill or injured and cannot safely participate, we'll discuss options including pausing the program or applying credit to a future date.
We prefer honest conversations over policy battles. If you're facing a genuine hardship, reach out and talk to us. We can usually find a reasonable path forward.
If we need to cancel or reschedule due to our own circumstances:
If we cancel a scheduled session, we will reschedule at no additional cost to you at the next mutually available time.
In the rare event we cannot complete a program (illness, emergency, business closure), unused portions will be refunded or transferred to another qualified trainer, at your choice.
Sessions may be rescheduled due to severe weather or unsafe conditions. These are not cancellations—they're responsible rescheduling for everyone's safety.
You may end services at any time. Once services have begun, no refund is issued for unused portions. This applies to all program types.

If we mutually agree that training isn't working for your dog, we'll discuss fair options including partial credit toward alternative services.
If you disagree with a refund decision:
We believe in fair dealing and will consider your individual circumstances. Disputing charges with your credit card company without first contacting us directly may delay resolution and result in additional fees.
